Lighting Optimisation for UYS
Installing lighting optimisation units at UYS’s Coventry factory resulted in savings of 32% and a return on investment of 18 months.
UYS are a subsidiary of Honda (UK) and manufacture exhaust systems for the main Swindon plant and replacement market. E2 were asked to support their energy management programme and came up with 8 main projects to reduce consumption across the building services and production processes.
Whilst the factory lighting was relatively modern and efficient, E2 identified an opportunity to retrofit lighting optimisation technology. This allowed the supply voltage to be reduced from 240 volts per phase down to 220V, providing a consumption saving of 32%.
The equipment was installed prior to the existing lighting distribution boards, making it a low-cost installation, which was completed in half a day.
