Voltage optimisation for Crown Golf
Installing voltage optimisation technology at the Vale Golf & Country Club resulted in 18% savings and a return on investment of under 17 months.
Crown Golf is Europe’s leading owner & operator of golf clubs. They have 33 golf & leisure facilities within the UK, including the prestigious St Mellion Golf & Country Club.
Having already undertaken a successful energy awareness campaign & implemented a programme of energy saving projects across the largest clubs, Crown Golf needed to identify a reliable energy saving project which could deliver tangible savings & provide a return on investment of under 18 months.
Due to the significant variation in design & layout of each of the clubs, E2 needed to identify a project which could be applied at each location, therefore achieving the maximum savings for Crown Golf. ‘Whole Site Optimisation’ was therefore selected, effectively reducing the incoming voltage at each site down to 225V. This, in turn, reduces the site consumption by minimising losses within electrical equipment throughout each site.
A pilot study was undertaken at The Vale Golf & Country Club, which resulted in an 18% saving, providing a return on investment of 17 months.
Following the success of the pilot, Crown Golf now intend to install voltage optimisation technology across all of their larger UK sites.
Gwyn Hicks – Financial Director said
"Crown Golf takes its environmental responsibilities seriously & was looking for an initiative that could minimise both consumption and costs, within a realistic ROI. E2 recommended voltage optimisation & undertook a pilot project first, to prove it would work on our clubs. E2 data logged the site, proving savings of 18% and an ROI of 17 months. We now intend to roll this out across our larger UK sites & have planned on an average 15% saving."
