AHU Controls & BMS Upgrade

Project

Royal Brompton Hospital forms part of Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and comprises of a large Trend Building Management System (BMS). The works have included installing controls equipment for new Air Handling Plant as well as some existing and obsolete control equipment upgrades. Due to the 24/7 nature of the buildings the works needed to be completed while the hospital seamlessly continued to carry out the critical care for its patients before and during the COVID 19 pandemic. The coordination and communication between the project team and the estates team was vital in the successful delivery of this project which was completed on time and within budget.

Solution

The logistics of upgrading the control panels while maintaining building operation required careful consideration in addition to completing the works in stages. To ensure a fully functioning system all necessary design, engineering and commissioning labour was provided by E2 Services. The control strategy was engineered in order to maximise the efficiency of the plant and reduce utility costs. Graphics were configured for all items of main plant, and all relevant control variables were logged and available for graphical display.

“ Having worked with E2 Services for many years I have found them to be dedicated and understanding of the hospital environment and its requirements. Their high customer service level and caliber of engineers has meant we have built a trusted working relationship with them and I would recommend them to potential clients for any future works”
